Desacato wine, produced by Grupo Pistacyl, has received further international recognition with a silver medal at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA), one of the world’s most important and prestigious wine competitions.
Specifically, the jury of the 23rd edition of the competition, composed of top international wine tasters, awarded 91 points to Desacato Sobre Lías Verdejo 2025. The tasting notes highlighted its expressiveness, liveliness, and fun character, with notes of citrus, green apple, fennel, floral and moist stone fruit, bright tropical fruit on the palate, and a herbaceous finish.
The DWWA 2026 Silver Medal is the second award that Desacato Verdejo 2025 has received this year, adding to the Silver Medal it won in March at the spring edition of the Mundus Vini-Grand International Wine Award 2026, another of the world’s most prestigious competitions, which receives more than 11,000 entries from hundreds of wineries each year.
Furthermore, the first vintage of Desacato wine already won another Silver Medal at the 29th edition of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles held in 2022.
Desacato Verdejo 2025 is a still wine, made through the natural alcoholic fermentation of 100% Verdejo grape must, under the seal of the Rueda Denomination of Origin.
It has been produced by Grupo Pistacyl since 2021 using grapes from its own vineyards located in the Valladolid towns of Fresno el Viejo and Pozal de Gallinas, the hometown of this family-run agri-food company.
In addition to Desacato Verdejo, this Valladolid-based family group launched Desacato Sauvignon Blanc last year, a wine made entirely from this grape variety, also under the Rueda Denomination of Origin.
These wines are available in various restaurants, supermarkets, and shops throughout Spain and have also been gaining traction in international markets such as France, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
