Success for the 2nd AC KALO International Beach Handball Tournament, sponsored by Grupo Pistacyl

The town of Pozal de Gallinas in Valladolid became the epicenter of beach handball from July 24th to 26th thanks to the 2nd AC KALO Tournament, organized by the sports club of the same name, led by brothers Álvaro and Miguel Martínez Lobato, and sponsored by Grupo Pistacyl, a family business based in this town in Valladolid.

In this second edition, the tournament once again enjoyed great success in terms of both spectators and participants, with more than 25 teams from different categories competing from Spain, France, and Portugal on the sandy courts specially set up by the Pozal de Gallinas Town Hall for this championship.

The tournament began at noon on Friday, July 24th, with competitions featuring the youth teams, with Desacato AC KALO emerging victorious in the boys’ cadet category.

Meanwhile, the Desacato AC KALO senior team won the silver medal in a thrilling final, ultimately losing to Plasroal BMP Alcalá. Hugo Poladura, from Desacato AC KALO, was named the tournament’s best player.

In the women’s senior category, Flying Free emerged victorious, while Playa Valladolid B took the title in the cadet category and Playa Valladolid won the men’s youth competition.

The championship was made possible through the collaboration of the Pozal de Gallinas Town Council, the Valladolid Provincial Council, the Castile and León Handball Federation, and several private sponsors, including Grupo Pistacyl through its Desacato winery. These sponsorships have allowed the AC KALO Tournament to solidify its position as a prominent international competition, a qualifying event for the EBT (European Beach Tour), the prestigious European circuit for this sport.

In this second edition, the tournament paid tribute to Pozal de Gallinas and its elders with a special trophy: a replica of the village well (dating back to the 15th century).

In addition to the sporting events, the town offered a variety of activities throughout the weekend, including live music on Friday and Saturday nights for participants and visitors.
