Desacato wine, produced by Grupo Pistacyl, continues to garner recognition at the most prestigious competitions in the sector. Following its Silver Medal at the 2021 Brussels World Competition, this wine, produced under the Rueda Denomination of Origin, has now won a Silver Medal at the spring edition of the Mundus Vini-Grand International Wine Award 2026.
Specifically, the jury of this competition, comprised of experts from 40 countries, awarded this distinction to Desacato Verdejo 2025, produced by Grupo Pistacyl with grapes of this variety from its own vineyards in the Valladolid towns of Fresno el Viejo and Pozal de Gallinas, where this family-run agri-food company originated.
In their assessment, the jury particularly highlighted the wine’s clarity and visual appeal, as well as the intensity and purity of its aroma and flavour, earning it the silver medal at this competition, one of the most prestigious in the world, which receives over 11,000 entries each year from hundreds of wineries worldwide.
Founded by Meininger Velarg more than 17 years ago, Mundus Vini is held twice a year since 2014: in August, before the autumn trade fairs, as a summer tasting, and in February, as a spring tasting.
This tasting serves as a prelude to ProWein, the world’s leading wine and spirits trade fair, which will be held from March 15-17 in Düsseldorf, Germany. Grupo Pistacyl plans to attend, in partnership with ICECYL and ISC Wines, to officially present its award-winning Desacato Verdejo 2025 to the thousands of professional visitors expected at the event.
Desacato Verdejo 2025 is a still wine, made through the natural alcoholic fermentation of 100% Verdejo grape must, under the Rueda Denomination of Origin.
In addition to Desacato Verdejo, which Grupo Pistacyl has been producing since 2021, this family-owned group from Valladolid has expanded its wine portfolio with the launch last year of Desacato Verdejo Sobre Lías and Desacato Sauvignon Blanc.
These wines are available in various restaurants, supermarkets, and shops throughout Spain and have also been gaining ground in international markets such as France, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, and Germany.
